*Mini dance/drama created by Caroline Copeland of The New York Baroque Dance Company, performed by herself and fellow dancer/actor Matthew Ting, accompanied by Kevin Shannon on period instruments. The music and dance will combine into an amusing drama, portraying an American husband and wife rehearsing before the ball opening.
This short performance (15 minutes) is underwriten by Genevieve Brunet Smith, Artistic Director of HISTRIO, Washington’s only French Theatre. It captures the excitement of General Lafayette’s second visit to the young United States in 1780. Sailing on the Hermione, Lafayette landed and was quickly swept up with attending balls in his honor.
